I am a Heartist, a picture storyteller who illustrates the Heart of Story.
My gift is intuitive storytelling: the drawing out, showing and telling with “visual words” by Illustrating the True Essence, the heart of a story. I am inspired by Nature, how its form, light, patterns, speak its function, its heart purpose to show the world.
I was born a “Heartist”, drawing and talking from the heart. I had the ability to hear and draw the voice of land and animals. Nature was my playmate, from mountains, the sea, to my grand parents’ country farms. Looking, seeing, and listening with my heart. I was told I had a “gift” of knowing, of “seeing”, hearing nature, as I touched and received messages from the land and animals.
Asked not to speak about my “talking with nature”, expanded with orders not to talk of the “soul” of products while finding their essence as Brand Creative Director for large ad agencies. My own soul became invisible, buried. At the peak of my career, I had a medical emergency and passed away. This near death experience was filled with heart joy; love. I was sent back to “find purpose”. Pivoting took many years knowing the invisible connections to nature and soul. Now, I am speaking my truth, talking my Soul Talk, and helping others show their heart stories. It is my honor with Essence Illustration storytelling, (and doing heart to heart intuitive talk) to help people see the “outside” in order to speak from the their “inside” out!
What if we can find, see, the extraordinary in our “ordinary” strengths, to fire us and others up? Drawing and showing soul essence lights up my heart. “What if” I could guide others to bring visible the invisibles of their heart’s fire, to see, express, and succeed soul stories?
My Essence Illustration storytelling with Chi-Lightful opens hearts, shows REAL story. Firing up heart awakenings with heart to heart communication for people, pets, and environment, is my gift, my passion, and serves my mission to heal the Earth.
Curiosity and Questioning are my guides:
Q: What feeds my heart? Nature, hiking, art, drawing and painting, animals, the sea, sailing, creating cozy homes, travel, being a naturalist / docent, and connecting others to art and nature. I’m a “curious being” that loves to learn new things, enjoy good movies with good storylines, sharing kindness with and being around “lifelong learner” people.
Q: What one word would I choose to describe “what I do”? Ignite is my one word. To ignite heart communications for all beings and nature.
The “facts”:
My gift of speaking with art was officially focused into graphic communications upon my graduation from the University of Washington in Fine Art with a BFA in Graphic Design. For over 20 years, “telling story”; leading new business teams and creating brand flow as a “brand activist”; creative director / art director in major ad agencies on both East and West Coasts, has been my way of life. I clearly understand how to translate, simplify, “tell story” that magnetizes its audience by using the energy of visuals to find clarity, share focus, show purpose, forge teamwork, with both art and words.
Drawing out the heart of identity is what I love. I have been blessed to be honored by my peers with awards for business communications such as: Best of the West, Type Director’s Club of New York, The One Show (New York Art Director’s Club), Andy Awards, Hatch Awards, Belding Awards, and member of the National Television Academy.
Book illustration, fine art, writing, teaching (College level design), and speaking expand my storytelling tool chest. I am the illustrator and author of “Fur Shui. An Introduction to Animal Feng Shui.” Published in the US, Canada, UK and Italy! Essence Illustration for my clients, teaching workshops, and speaking about the essence of “heart” finds me traveling the world to help people communicate, discover, and experience, the art and heart of their “talk” as well as being in harmony with themselves and their environments.
My fine art has been exhibited in juried shows in Southern California and now in the Tri State area, Pennsylvania. I am a member of the Philadelphia Pastel Society (and others), and honored with awards from judges such as Richard McKinley and Steven Shriver.
